Join us for GEM June 11 and Hear From USGS Experts on the Health of Our Lake

Please join us Saturday June 11, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. – noon at TLPA’s annual GEM event at A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort. We are thrilled to welcome Dale M. Robertson, PhD, Research Hydrologist for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Dr. Robertson is an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay; Michigan Technological University; and University of Toledo. He is also an Honorary Fellow with the Center for Limnology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His current research at USGS includes examining the effect climate change has on physical dynamics, ice cover, productivity of lakes. As USGS team leader on our Long Term Monitoring and Assessment program of Torch Lake kicking off this year, Dr. Robertson will share his expertise on impacts on water quality and insights on the health of Torch Lake.

Joining Dr. Robertson Dr. Sherry Martin, also of USGS, who will share her knowledge on outside influences on lakes, such as septic tanks and ground water run-off . Dr. Geoffrey Schladow, Director of the Tahoe Environmental Research Center in Lake Tahoe, and a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, will be in attendance as well. He has studied enhanced growth of benthic algae in Lake Tahoe, which is similar to the algae seen growing on the bottom of Torch.
